Electronic Waste
Electronic Waste - the general principle is that if it had an electrical charge then it is Electronic Waste (E-waste)
What is Recyclable
Laptops/computers/tablets/keyboards
LCD Monitors
Printers, cartridges
Cables, routers
Cameras
Batteries (Lead Acid, Solar, AGM, Laptop Lithium-Ion)
Phones
TVs
Electrical Appliances (microwaves, fridges, air conditioners)
Alkaline Batteries (AA, AAA) we safely store them until enough for recycling
What will happen my stuff?
All material will be collected and taken to a disassembling plant in Keko – Dar es Salaam. Here the materials are taken apart and sorted. The cables are striped, the motherboards are taken out and everything that can be recycled from the material is prepared for recycling. Many of the different items are then exported to Belgium and other countries. All the items that can be used in Tanzania (scrap metal, copper, plastic) will be recycled into new material. Customers are invited to view the disassembly!
Important: Not all items will be recycled immediately. Alkaline batteries are safely stored until there is enough to export for recycling. Some items, like the coverings of computers and other machines may not always be recyclable. We will recycle everything that can be recycled and safely dispose of the rest.
